Gone are the Medico Days.... but not the memories

Gone are the days
When we came to this college
With hopes and a little bit of hesistation in our eyes

Gone are the days
When we rushed up to D-Hall at 8:25
And returned to rooms smelling of formalin

Gone are the days
When we counted RBCs and Lymphocytes
But wrote our own numbers

Gone are the days
When the lectures about Carbohydrates and proteins
Used to be so relaxing that every one slept

Gone are the days
When being as I Clinical in OP/Wards meant
We could do anything but study

Gone are the days
When we saw cells under microscope and
Rememberd the slide’s morphology and number.

Gone are the days
When, on going to SPM survey
We went to Coutallam and Manimuthar and Papanasam.

Gone are the days
Gone are the days of ENT and Opthalmology and FM
And SPM and ECSTASY and TAMPONADE

Gone are the days
When one month of Psychiatry posting
Meant no postings at all

Gone are the days
When Colles and Mitral Stenosis and Fibroid
Occupied the whole mind

Gone are the days
When IMCU and Accident ward and labour ward
Used to be so stressful

Gone are the days
Paediatrics and SPM
Used to be so educative

Gone are the days
We learnt, we enjoyed, we played, we won, we lost
We laughed, we cried, we fought, we thought

Gone are the days
With so much fun in them, so many friends
So much experience, all this and more

Gone are the days
But not the memories, which will be
In our hearts for ever and ever and ever and ever…………………
