Estonian hospital launches ePatient portal
The East Tallinn Central Hospital in Estonia has implemented a hospital management solution that enables patients view their medical records, take appointments from doctors, as well as pay consultation fees online.
Usinf the newly launched ePatient portal, patients can also subscribe to an appointment reminder service, via SMS or email or both. According to an ePractice report, patients can access the portal from the hospital’s website and so far, nearly 1,000 people have used it.
To access the new portal, an ID card is required which is the only form of authorisation that can guarantee the full security of medical records.
The software for the portal was developed as a collaborative effort between the hospital and GenNet Laboratories.
