Himachal to strengthen Ayurveda system
In an effort to strenthen the Ayurveda healthcare system in Himachal Pradesh, the state government is planning to open 250 Ayurvedic clinics in the Primary Health Centres (PHCs) during the current financial year.
It would also open 70 Ayurvedic clinics in community health centres and rural hospitals, and 10 wards in the regional and medical college hospitals during FY 2008-09.
Disclosing this at a day long workshop on National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) organised by the Health and Ayurveda Department, the state Health Minister Rajiv Bindal said that the state government will strengthen Ayurveda healthcare system so that better medical services would be made available to the people at their door steps in far flung areas of the state.
The Minister further informed that ‘Geriatrics Care Clinic’ had emerged successful in the state and as a result the state had been declared as a nodal state following which a training programme would be launched for the doctors in geriatrics very soon.
Bindal said that state government would ensure smooth and balanced development of health services through perfect coordination among all therapies in the state.
He said that the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) was being implemented effectively, besides, many other health care programmes have been launched to provide better and quality health services to the people.
He said that two Joint Committees had been constituted in the Health and Ayurveda Department in view of necessities of people living in difficult geographical conditions.
