Patna Chief Engineer fined for violating RTI

Justice Shashank Kumar Singh, Chief Information Commissioner of Bihar has slapped a penalty of Rs 11,500 on Chief Engineer of the Patna Municipal Corporation for not providing information to a petitioner under Right to Information Act.

Raja Ram Singh, in his petition under RTI Act wanted to know that why the municipal road was incomplete and why suitable action was not taken for drainage.

Besides, the CIC also took cognizance of the Chief Engineer’s inability to appear before the commission.

The Commissioner has directed the Patna Municipal Commissioner to realise the penalty in two equal instalments from the salary of the Chief Engineer.
