Rajasthan poised for e-Gov, to set up CSCs

In a bid to provide various IT enabled e-Government and non-government services to the citizens, the Government of Rajasthan is planning to establish Common Services Centres (CSCs) across the state.

The aim of the scheme is not merely to roll out IT infrastructure but to build a network of over one lakh rural businesses across India.

The CSCs would offer a multitude of services ranging in the areas of e-Government, education, health, agriculture, commercial and retail. It is to be noted that delivery of government services would be mandatory for the CSCs.

The CSCs will set up by service centre agencies (SCA) preferably in a premise which owned by either of the Gram Panchayat, Post-office, government-schools and any-other-government agency.

SCA, who will be selected by the state government, will have to take proactive measures to encourage citizens to use the CSC Channel for availing the government-to-customer (G2C) and government-to-business (G2B) services.

The CSC scheme has been designed to create a value proposition for all stakeholders and alignment of their economic interests.

The CSC will provide key government services (G2C) which include information on land records, vehicle registration, issue of certificates, employment exchange, ration cards, electoral services, pension schemes, road transport and public grievance.

It would also provide enhanced business to consumer (B2C) services, including commercial services, digital photos, web surfing, photocopy, DTP, printing and forms downloads.

The e-commerce and online services, to be provided by CSCs, would include booking of railway tickets, astrology, matrimonial, shopping, resumes, education services, community TV, telemedicine, primary healthcare and various agriculture services.

These centres would also provide business-to-business services (B2B), such as advertising and promotion services, data collection services, distribution services and financial services for loans and deposits, referrals and insurance.

The total number of CSCs will be 6,626 across seven districts of the state, including Jaipur (1,156), Jodhpur (951), Udaipur (1,314), Kota (706), Bikaner (1,014), Ajmer (878) and Bharatpur (607).
